2017-11-03 Game Night - Clank! and Century Golem Edition
The next game night is tonight at my place at 8pm. Come one come all. I'll have some snacks handy, plus the usual player-donated items. Today should be a big crowd, and I look forward to seeing everyone!
Tonight, we had a good turnout. Four people were playing tonight. We had fresh De-caffeinated tea, popcorn, and dug into the red bin for sweets.
The first game we played was a new one for the table. It was called Century 'Golem Edition'. This was a buy and upgrade game where each player acquired various converter cards, and used them to expand and upgrade their colored gems. These gems could be used to purchase various Golems. each worth victory points. Once five golems were purchased, the game would finish the round, and victory points counted. Highest wins. This one was popular - we played it twice.
The last game we played was a re-run for the table. Clank! is a deck-builder with dungeon exploring mechanics. Yellow player won by quite a landslide, buying a backpack, and carrying the two biggest point-value McGuffin's out of the dungeon. But it was a close game, since the other three players had already escaped, and were doing their best to wake the dragon and arrange for yellow player's demise. As it was, Yellow almost doubled the score of the second place. But, the game was fun - and will likely be requested again.
Clank is a dungeon crawler, item explorer, board movement, treasure hunting, deck-builder. All it is missing is a story line. But that might detract from the actual gameplay.
